Those who are really interested in Cyprus know that this small hot island is not limited to major resort towns such as Paphos and Limassol. In addition, in addition to the villages lying on the low mountains and in the Troodos mountains, there are many fishing villages and villages scattered along the coast in Cyprus. One of these villages is Liopetri, which translates as “few stones”.

This small fishing village is located at the confluence of one of the mountain rivers into the Mediterranean bay. The village currently has a population of about 4,000. Until now, most of the population of Liopetri is engaged in fishing, supplying the fruits of their labor to cafes and restaurants in large cities. The village's small harbor is dotted with boats of all types and sizes, and the local taverns offer freshly prepared seafood, from fish to shellfish. In addition, the locals will always be happy to ride you across the expanses of the sea on their vessels. The area around the village of Liopetri is famous for its red potatoes, which are exported to Europe. Not far from Liopetri, there are windmill fields. Thanks to them, the villagers receive electricity and have the ability to pump water for the needs of agriculture.

Fishing is mainly occupied by men. The women of Liopetri at this time produce textiles, handmade embroidery, wooden souvenirs with carvings, weave baskets. One of the challenges that the Cypriot authorities are currently facing is precisely the preservation of such settlements and the preservation of traditional crafts that can be used in the service of the tourism business.

In past centuries, there were at least 7 temples here, but most of them were destroyed by time and ruthless wars. The church of Agios Andronikos, which was built in the 15th century, has survived to this day. At one time it served as a Catholic chapel, then, during the rule of the Ottoman Empire, it became a mosque. Nowadays, the church has been restored, its walls are decorated with ancient frescoes, and this structure is crowned with a large octagonal dome.

Those who are interested in history, architecture or those who believe in God will be interested in another church in the village - the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos. It was built in the 16th century. The bell tower, veranda and wall paintings have been preserved in it.
